The Southern Scribes is a coalition of writers who either live in or write about the American South or Southwest. Originally created in 1995 as a writer's critique group, the mission of the Southern Scribes has grown with the publishing successes of the members. While still a reading and critique group, the Southern Scribes also work to publicize, market and support the books and articles written by the members.
